Counseling & Therapy

~Are you struggling with anxiety, depression or anger?

~Are you concerned about your teenager’s self destructive behaviors and attitudes?

~Are you currently contemplating, going through, or still dealing with the effects of a divorce?

~Are physical problems, chronic pain, severe illness, or general health issues impacting your life?

~Have other attempts to get help (i.e. medication, counseling, self-help) been ineffective?

We use a practical application, change-oriented model to help clients make meaningful and lasting changes to their lives. To truly grow, one must leave behind patterns that do not work. We empower clients so they can make their lives their own.
When past painful experiences are not healed from, they continue to hurt in the present. Traumatic experiences can truly be healed. We work to reduce the stress and worry in people’s lives while healing past and present traumas. Healing can reduce and often eliminate emotional and physical suffering so clients can live more joyful lives.

Teenagers & Adolescents

Our Adolescent Speciality: Most counseling for teenagers takes adult models and waters it down. We work from an adolescent model.

WHY ARE WE EFFECTIVE?

~ A Specialized, Experiential Model of Treament for Adolescent Clients~

We work to help teenagers be more involved in life, build a foundation of competency, and learn to self-advocate improving their self-confidence, reducing anxiety, and eliminating harm and destructive behaviors.  Many time tradition counseling and therapy fails with adolescents because it is a model created for adults watered down and applied to teenagers.  As teenagers are in a different developmental stage of life, the approach in counseling and therapy needs to be different as well.

~Sessions Take Place out in the Real World~

All sessions start and end at the office.  During the session, we may go to the park, get a snack, or something to drink.  In this way, teenagers are more engaged, get to have an experience, and are in a more natural setting.  This method also allows for real life, in real time teachings and intervention.

~The Teenager Makes the Lasting Changes~

We work for symptom reduction by changing the way the youth feels about themselves and the world around them.   The last thing most teenagers want is another adult telling them what to do.  In our model teenagers make changes, not because they are told to, but by our guiding them to see themselves and the world a different way.  Not only is this effective in reducing and eliminating problems and issues but the teenager also gains vital tools and core understandings which benefit our clients for the rest of their lives.

~Groups~

Adolescents and teens develop an understanding of themselves based on their peers. Changes to how a teen sees themselves and the world comes even faster when they are seeing and hearing other teenagers working on similiar endevors. We provide an on-going teen group to increase the impact of client individual sessions. Instead of using a one-size-fits-all ciriculum, weekly groups are designed to address the issues the teenagers are currently struggling with in their life.

PARENT SESSIONS FOR ADOLESCENT CLIENTS:

We work with the parents to help create the changes needed for the youth to thrive. Parent sessions focus on providing tools and assisting with understanding the issue the youth is struggling with to allow for the parents help, reduce tension, and increase positive interactions.
